Hi there! I’m Chef Mya—but most people just call me Mya in the kitchen. I’m 38, based in the cozy, food-loving town of Asheville, North Carolina, where the mountains are as inspiring as the produce stands. I wear a lot of hats—mom, recipe creator, food lover—but my favorite one by far is “cook.”

I didn’t grow up with gourmet meals or culinary classes. I grew up in a busy house where dinner meant grabbing whatever was in the fridge and making it work. We didn’t have much, but we had flavor, creativity, and a whole lot of heart. That’s where I learned that cooking isn’t just about recipes—it’s about improvising, sharing, and showing up with whatever you’ve got.

For a long time, I cooked just for the people I love. Weeknight dinners, Sunday brunches, birthday cakes that leaned a little sideways but were always made with love. I never dreamed I’d be sharing my food with thousands of people online, but here we are—and I’m so grateful every single day.

My cooking style is simple, comforting, and packed with flavor. I’m a firm believer that food doesn’t need to be complicated to be amazing. In fact, most of the recipes I create for Snap Recipes come from the question: What can I make that’s easy, delicious, and feels like a little win at the end of the day? That’s what I want for you. No stress, no fancy gadgets—just real food made with joy.

Of course, not every meal goes perfectly. I’ve burned more garlic than I care to admit, and I’ve had my fair share of “what was I thinking?” moments. But those little mishaps are where the best ideas come from. Cooking, like life, is about learning, laughing, and sometimes ordering pizza when nothing works out.

If you’re here because you want to cook more, eat better, or just have some fun in the kitchen—welcome. I’m so happy you’re here. Let’s make magic out of whatever’s in your fridge. Let’s keep it real, keep it flavorful, and keep it joyful.

Can’t wait to cook with you.
